Description | From the Newberry Library Catalogue: Power of attorney, dated July 26, 1800 at Fort Michilimackinac, Michigan, granted by Charles Mouet de Langlade, captain in the British department of Indians, to Philippe de Rastel Rocheblave and Joseph Porlier. The power of attorney, executed before Adhemar St. Martin, notary at the fort, allows Rocheblave and Porlier to oversee, maintain, and engage in transactions concerning 3,000 arpents of land in Haut-Canada (Ontario) granted to Langlade by the government there, the three patents having been signed by Roussel [president of the Parlement de Paris?] on August 3, 1799. The power of attorney is signed by Langlade and St. Martin. |
