Description From the Newberry Library Catalogue: Fragment from around 1750 containing words, phrases, and sentences in the Nipissing language, compiled by Father Jean Claude Mathevet, a Sulpitian missionary at Lac des Deux Montagnes in Oka, Quebec from 1746-1781. Headings at the top of page [1], possibly topics of sermons, include "Passion," "Resurrection," "Sur la perfection," "Divers moyens pour se bien comporter," "Enfer," "Patience," and "Regret d’un incroyant a la veille du départ," the latter followed by a year--1798--in which the sermon may have been given by one of Mathevet’s successors.
