Description From the Newberry Library Catalogue: January, 1809, account of Oliver Phelps with the Connecticut Land Company, listing transactions from 1799 to 1803. Includes amounts taken in ($1,889.41) from Peter B. Porter (N.Y. congressman and lawyer) and others, and amounts paid out ($1,812.22) to "Josh. Brandt [i.e. Brant] & Indians". In June, 1803, Phelps owed the company $77.19, which with accumulated interest totalled $102.60 in January, 1809. The sums paid to Brant were to extinguish the Six Nations’ claim to all Reserve lands west of the Cuyahoga River.
