Description From the Newberry Library Catalogue: Typescript copy of Henry Standage’s diary documenting his service with the Mormon Battalion, beginning in Council Bluffs, July 19, 1846, and ending in Los Angeles, July 16, 1847. Diary contains information on miles travelled; towns en route; sickneses, deaths, and burials; shortages of water, provisions, and clothing; buffalo and other game; Indians; military drills, etc. There are also brief descriptions of Santa Fe, Tucson, San Diego, Los Angeles, and the California missions.
